    Background & context

    Der 17-Pfünder erschien 1942 in Nordafrika und blieb bis Kriegsende das durchschlagskräftigste Panzerabwehrgeschütz der Westalliierten. Für Luftlandeeinsätze wurde er mitsamt Zugfahrzeug in den Hamilcar-Lastensegler geladen - eine der wenigen Möglichkeiten, so viel Stahl hinter die feindlichen Linien zu bringen. In Oosterbeek standen solche Geschütze im September 1944 tagelang gegen deutsche Panzerangriffe.

    On the tabletop

    The 17 pounder gives your British airborne army in Bolt Action the hardest-hitting anti-tank gun of the Western Allies. Its targets are heavily armoured German tanks such as the Tiger and King Tiger. Five metal figures make up the crew. The gun arrived by glider and is hard to move once placed, so pick a covered position with a wide field of fire before the game starts, as at Oosterbeek in September 1944.
