The QF 6-Pounder, which taught Axis tanks the meaning of fear in the desert, as a plastic kit in 28 mm. One sprue provides the gun, a second three gunners plus a fourth man as observer or platoon commander.

Background & context

The 6-Pounder had been designed as early as 1938, but after Dunkirk the army needed every 2-Pounder immediately, and production of its successor waited until the end of 1941. In the spring of 1942 it reached North Africa and turned the balance of forces there: at El Alamein the 2nd Battalion Rifle Brigade held the outpost Snipe with its guns for a whole day against tank attacks. Later there were hard-core rounds that could also penetrate Tiger and Panther from the side, and a version with a folding carriage for gliders, which covered the paratroopers at Arnhem.

On the tabletop

The plastic frame builds either the British 6-pounder or the American 57 mm M1, each with standard trails or the folding version used by airborne troops. In Bolt Action it is a medium anti-tank gun for the artillery platoon and can be towed by most vehicles. Three figures crew the gun, while the fourth can serve as a platoon commander, a spotter or an extra man for an infantry section. British and Canadian decals are included.
