Product details

Background & context

Fighting in built-up areas shaped the war in western Europe as much as in the east. In Normandy, artillery and aerial bombs turned places such as Caen and Saint-Lô into fields of rubble where the defenders fought on among the remains of walls. Destroyed houses gave cover but also hindered tanks, because rubble blocked the streets.

On the tabletop

The two ruins add cover and line-of-sight blocking to a village or the edge of a town. An anti-tank gun can hide behind the walls, tanks use them for their approach, and withdrawing infantry finds shelter there. Models in the houses get hard cover with improved saves. The pair is enough to suggest one side of a street.
