Background & context

Die Vorschrift Truppenführung von 1933 verlangte von deutschen Offizieren, selbstständig zu handeln statt auf Befehle zu warten - jeder Leutnant sollte die Aufgabe seines Vorgesetzten übernehmen können. In den schnellen Feldzügen bis 1942 zahlte sich das aus: Verbände blieben handlungsfähig, auch wenn die Funkverbindung riss. Erst als die Fronten erstarrten und von ganz oben in jede Einzelheit hineinregiert wurde, verlor dieser Grundsatz an Gewicht.

On the tabletop

Four metal figures form the command post of your early-war Wehrmacht for games from 1939 to 1942 in Bolt Action. An officer can have up to two attendants with him, so the group gives you a platoon commander and his entourage. Uniforms and kit suit Poland, France and the start of the invasion of the Soviet Union. In the game the officer supports his men's morale and uses his orders to get neighbouring squads into action.
