    Background & context

    In Nordafrika fehlte den Briten 1942 eine Artillerie, die dem Tempo der Panzerverbände folgen konnte. Die Antwort war ein Valentine mit kastenförmigem Aufbau, in dem eine 25-Pfünder-Haubitze steckte - das erste britische Selbstfahrgeschütz im Feld. Die Rohrerhöhung blieb dürftig und die Reichweite entsprechend kurz. Sobald amerikanische Priest in Menge eintrafen, wanderte der Bishop nach Sizilien und Italien ab.

    On the tabletop

    The Bishop puts a 25-pdr howitzer in a box-shaped superstructure on a Valentine and was the first British self-propelled gun in the field. For your 8th Army in Bolt Action it is mobile artillery that keeps pace with the tanks and fires in an arc at infantry and positions. The limited barrel elevation kept its range short, and it is not meant for tank fights. It suits North Africa, Sicily and Italy, and Achtung Panzer! as well.
