    Background & context

    On the tabletop

With the Almoravids and Almohads, the Berber tribes came from the Maghreb into al-Andalus, and these 30 warriors show their foot soldiers. Built with bows they shoot at an approaching enemy, while sword and shield let them hold off skirmishers and light troops. They fight in loose order and give way before a frontal charge, so they belong on the flanks and in broken ground. In Moorish armies in 28 mm scale you pair them with a close-order spear formation.
