Background & context

Belgien hatte sich 1936 für neutral erklärt und setzte auf Festungen statt auf Bündnisse. Eben-Emael galt als stärkstes Werk Europas und fiel am ersten Kriegstag binnen Stunden. Die Feldarmee zog sich hinter Dyle und Schelde zurück und kämpfte achtzehn Tage, bevor König Leopold III. am 28. Mai 1940 kapitulierte. Ausgerüstet war sie dabei überwiegend noch mit Waffen aus dem Ersten Weltkrieg.

The most common machine gun of the Belgian army was the Maxim MG08/15, a German design from the First World War converted to fire 7.65 mm ammunition. The gun and its three crew give your Belgian force in Bolt Action a medium machine gun for defensive battles. In May 1940, after the swift fall of Eben-Emael, Belgium held out for eighteen more days on the Dyle and the Scheldt. In scenarios of the 1940 campaign in the west, place the team at a canal or a bridge the enemy has to cross.
