    Background & context

    Der Bedford OY war die militarisierte Fassung einer zivilen Drei-Tonnen-Baureihe und zählte zu den Arbeitspferden der britischen Armee. Als 1940 die Panzerabwehr knapp wurde, landete auf der Ladefläche kurzerhand eine Hotchkiss-3-pdr auf Sockellafette, ein Geschütz maritimer Herkunft. Elegant war das nicht, aber es brachte Feuerkraft dorthin, wohin gezogene Geschütze zu langsam kamen. Solche Behelfslösungen prägten die frühen Jahre der britischen Expeditionstruppe.

    On the tabletop

    The bed of this Bedford truck carries a Hotchkiss 3-pdr on a pedestal mount, a British stopgap from the early war years. In Bolt Action you play it using the 2-PDR Portee entry from Armies of Great Britain. It rushes anti-tank fire to a threatened spot, but as a truck it is vulnerable itself, so keep it out of direct fire. You can also field it in Achtung Panzer! games.
