Background & context

Ralph Hopton was a Royalist commander in the west of England during the English Civil War. As a named historical figure, the model clearly falls within the command sphere. The national and scenario assignment to England and the English Civil War is thus consistent.

On the tabletop

Ralph Hopton leads your Royalist army in the West of England. As a mounted single figure he serves in Pike & Shotte as your commander-in-chief or as the leader of a brigade. Scenarios based on his victories of 1643 at Stratton Hill, Lansdown Hill and Roundway Down gain their historical commander with him. He also fits Cheriton in 1644 and Torrington in 1646, where he faces first William Waller and later the New Model Army.
