This resin and metal kit represents an Australian Matilda II for Bolt Action and can be built as a 2-pdr tank, Close Support variant with a 3-inch howitzer, or a Frog flamethrower. The model is particularly suitable for Commonwealth forces in the Pacific, where the heavily armoured infantry tank was used in small teams for direct support.

Hintergrund & Einordnung

While the A12 Matilda II was already obsolete in the European theatre of war, it proved very effective against the lighter-equipped Japanese forces in the Far East. The terrain prevented large tank formations, which is why Australian Matilda units were used in small groups of three tanks directly for infantry support. Australian modifications included protecting the front tracks and the turret ring. The Frog flamethrower variant was particularly fearsome but required a break after each burst of fire to build up pressure.
