Hintergrund & Einordnung

The Australian armed forces were among the most combat-experienced Allied units in the Pacific War - many soldiers had previously served in North Africa and the Middle East. In the dense jungles of New Guinea, equipment and tactics had to be fundamentally revised, as many methods from the desert campaign failed there. Among the infantry, there were numerous experienced marksmen who brought their skills from civilian hunting. American-made flamethrowers were introduced from 1944 onwards and proved particularly effective in attacking fortified Japanese bunker positions.

Einsatz im Spiel

Specialised weapon teams provide an Australian army with versatile tactical options that pure infantry lists cannot. The sniper pins down enemy units at range and forces the enemy to seek cover, while the light mortar can engage troop concentrations with indirect fire. The flamethrower team is particularly effective in scenarios involving bunkers or urban combat, where its impact against entrenched enemies is maximised. Together, these three groups form a balanced complementary package for Pacific scenarios of any scale.
