Product details

Background & context

In Sengoku Japan, ranged troops played an increasingly important role, especially with bows and arquebuses. Ashigaru could be deployed as simple archers alongside spearmen and samurai. As this is a single sprue, the text must remain significantly smaller and component-specific than with a full box.

On the tabletop

Bow and arquebus stand side by side in this unit, just as they did in Japanese armies of the Sengoku period. In Pike & Shotte the 20 Ashigaru form a missile unit that shoots at the enemy before it can close in. While the teppo gunners reload, the archers keep the enemy at a distance with their arrows. The decal sheet marks them as troops of the Takeda clan, and alongside the samurai they form the firing line of your army.
