    Reiterei war im nachrömischen Britannien Sache der Oberschicht: Pferde mussten durchgefüttert, Sattel und Waffen bezahlt werden, und beides konnte sich nur leisten, wer über Land und Gefolgsleute verfügte. Die spätrömischen Reitereinheiten der Insel hinterließen eine Tradition, an die sich die britischen Kleinkönige anlehnten. Dass Artus in den späteren Erzählungen als Anführer berittener Kämpfer auftaucht, hat hier seine Wurzel - lange bevor das Hochmittelalter Ritter in Plattenpanzer daraus machte.

    On the tabletop

    Four Romano-British mounted knights provide the cavalry of your Arthurian force in Hail Caesar, SAGA or Pillage. In post-Roman Britain only the upper class could afford horse, saddle and weapons, and the British petty kings built on the tradition of late Roman cavalry. As heavy cavalry the four charge together, ideally into a flank or against units that have already been weakened. With pack B and the command figures the unit grows further.
