    Description

Arthurian Early Saxon Ceorls B contains eight early Saxon metal infantry models for the Age of Arthur context. The Ceorls represent free warriors of early Anglo-Saxon society, whose status was linked to the right to bear arms. This blister pack adds simple but important foot troops to Saxon warbands.

    Product details

    Background & context

    On the tabletop

A ceorl was a free man, and his right to bear arms marked that status. The eight metal ceorls with spears form the shield wall of an early Saxon force in Hail Caesar or SAGA, catching and pinning enemy attacks. Behind them the better-equipped retinue waits for the moment to strike back. Their setting is Britain in the fifth and sixth centuries, when only the wealthy owned a mail shirt.
