Product details

Background & context

Between 1520 and 1600 the same mercenary bands marched back and forth across Europe, serving Catholic lords one season and Protestant ones the next. Anyone who could afford a half-armour rose on the pay roll and in return stood in the front rank. Especially when storming a breach or fighting in the streets of a captured town, good protection counted for more than reach. Armoured swordsmen were hired, and paid accordingly, for exactly such tasks.

On the tabletop

Armoured swordsmen go where reach no longer matters: into a breach or into the street fighting of a captured town. Alongside your pike blocks, the eight metal figures in four poses take on the storming of breaches and positions in Pike & Shotte. Their solid armour protects them in close combat, while shooting is not their job. The men suit the Wars of Religion between 1520 and 1600, when mercenary bands crossed Europe.
