Product details

Background & context

On the tabletop

Twelve pikemen in helmet, back and breastplate form the core of a 17th century pike block in Pike & Shotte. The twelve separately cast pikes with their 16 foot shafts keep enemy cavalry and opposing pikemen at a distance. When it comes to the push of pike, the men reach for their short swords. Since many soldiers shed their costly armour as the wars dragged on, these figures represent a well equipped block or the front ranks of a regiment.
