The Panzerbüchse 41 (sPzB 41) was one of the most innovative anti-tank weapons of World War II - its squeeze bore principle with a tungsten projectile made it dangerously effective at close range. Together with an experienced sniper team, this set brings exactly the support an Afrika Korps army needed in the mountain battles of Tunisia in 1943.

Hintergrund & Einordnung

When the fighting in North Africa moved to the mountainous terrain of Tunisia in 1943, Afrika Korps units had to adapt their tactics. Snipers exploited the difficult terrain for cover, putting enemy infantry under constant pressure - mostly using the Karabiner 98K or the semi-automatic Gewehr 43 with a ZF39 scope. Despite its comparatively small caliber, the heavy Panzerbüchse 41 (sPzB 41) was a formidable weapon: its squeeze bore principle (the bore tapers from 28mm to 20mm) with a tungsten core made it a serious threat to light vehicles and armored personnel carriers at close range. However, its effective range dropped off rapidly, making the weapon a specialist for ambushes and urban combat.

Einsatz im Spiel

In Bolt Action, the Panzerbüchse 41 counts as a light anti-tank gun with bonus penetration at close range and can be towed by most vehicles - ideal for aggressive close-quarters tactics against light tanks. The sniper team complements any infantry unit and is particularly effective against enemy squad leaders to undermine opponent morale. Together, both teams offer an Africa Korps army flexible firepower for medium distances and close-range engagements in terrain with limited visibility.
