Product details

Background & context

The schwere Panzerbüchse 41 was a curiosity of weapons engineering. Its barrel tapered from 28 to 20 millimetres, and the tungsten-cored round was literally squeezed down on firing and left the muzzle at over 1,400 metres per second. At short range it went through almost any armour of its day, but its effect fell away steeply with distance. As tungsten grew scarce, the numbers built stayed small.

On the tabletop

These two Afrika Korps teams for Bolt Action particularly suit the defence of Tunisia, where rocky hills and scrub replaced the desert. The Panzerbüchse 41 is a light anti-tank gun with three crew whose tungsten-cored round is lethal at short range and loses power sharply at longer ranges. So place it in an ambush close to the enemy's path. The sniper team takes out enemy squad leaders and so wears down their morale.
