Product details

Background & context

At the outbreak of war the 3.7cm PaK 36 was the standard gun of the German anti-tank units. Against the thick armour of the Matilda or the T-34 it failed so thoroughly that the Landser gave it the mocking nickname Heeresanklopfgerät (army door knocker). Even so it was replaced only slowly, and in North Africa it was still in the front line in 1941 and 1942: small, easy to move and easy to hide.

On the tabletop

In Bolt Action the small 3.7 cm PaK 36 is a light anti-tank gun for the early battles of your Afrika Korps. It copes with armoured cars, light tanks and other thinly armoured targets, but usually fails against the Matilda and similarly heavy types. In return it is accurate, small and easy to hide, and almost any vehicle can tow it. Three metal crew in tropical kit serve the gun.
