Product details

Background & context

Libya had been an Italian colony since 1911/12, and in September 1940 the Italian army advanced from there into Egypt. In the winter of 1940/41 the British counter-offensive, Operation Compass, drove the Italians far back to the west. Small settlements, wells and forts along the front came under artillery fire again and again. Often only wall remains were left of the mud-brick houses, and the troops used them as cover.

On the tabletop

The ruin breaks up open desert and gives your infantry somewhere to take cover. During assaults across open ground, it pays to use such rubble as an intermediate objective. Together with the ruin from A Gentleman's War it forms the shot-up edge of a settlement. It is intended for games set in North Africa.
