    Product details

    Background & context

US armoured doctrine drew a clean line between tasks: the Sherman was to accompany infantry and exploit breakthroughs, while enemy tanks were a matter for the tank destroyers. In practice the enemy did not stick to that, which is why from 1944 the M4A3E8 with its 76mm gun and wider tracks was sent up to follow. The M18 Hellcat took the hunter idea to its extreme: thin armour, an open turret, and in exchange the fastest tracked vehicle of its day. The M5 Stuart remained the scout.

    On the tabletop

The core of your tank group is formed by the three Easy Eights, which are most effective when they stay together and concentrate their fire on one target. Because of its thin armour you play the M18 Hellcat on the move: quickly onto the flank, shoot, gone again. The M5 Stuart scouts ahead of the group. For Achtung Panzer! the box includes Asset cards, phase and time tracker, tokens and the Tank Ace cards that turn two of your tanks into aces with abilities from the four Skill cards. The datacards cover 16 vehicles, so also models you add later.
