Background & context

The name of the game quotes Heinz Guderian's book of 1937, in which he called for the armoured arm to be an independent offensive force, with a radio in every vehicle and committed en masse rather than spread out among the infantry. That is exactly how German panzer divisions overran Poland, France and the western Soviet Union from 1939 to 1941. After that the balance reversed: Tiger and Panther were superior one to one, but too few, too thirsty and too often in the workshop. The tank commanders of the later years fought as a fire brigade on burning fronts, and this is where the Ace cards have their historical home.

On the tabletop

This set gives the German side in Achtung Panzer! 14 datacards, four ace skills, ten German asset cards and the complete 52-card event deck. When you play with two, each side has its own cards at the table. The ace skills suit the German tank commanders of the late war, who were needed in many places at once with only a few Tigers and Panthers. Each datacard sits next to its model during play.
