Product details

Background & context

Italy fought the war on several fronts at once: North Africa, Greece and the Balkans, the Eastern Front and finally its own soil after the landings in Sicily. Its equipment was seldom a match for that of its opponents, and against tanks the infantry often stood there with little more than sticky charges and bundled hand grenades. It was exactly this that gave rise, in the desert war, to the reputation of individual formations that tackled enemy vehicles at close quarters because they had nothing better.

On the tabletop

Armies of Italy contains no fewer than three army lists with national special rules, so you can field Italian troops in Bolt Action as part of the Axis or after the armistice. Its 96 colour pages cover infantry, artillery, vehicles and more, together with historical background. The Desert Lightning special figure represents a paratrooper in the desert war. The two arm sets put improvised anti-tank weapons in his hands.
