Background & context

In 1941 the T-34 was a nasty surprise for the Wehrmacht: sloped armour, wide tracks, a 76 mm gun. The Red Army still lost thousands of tanks in the first months of the war, because training, radios and leadership were lacking. From 1943 the picture turned: factories beyond the Urals delivered tanks in numbers no opponent could match, and at Kursk the last great German offensive in the East collapsed. T-34/85s and the heavy IS-2s carried the offensive all the way to Berlin, and on the table you play both: the bloody beginning and the steamroller at the end.

On the tabletop

For the Red Army in Achtung Panzer!, the box holds 14 Soviet datacards, four ace skill cards, ten asset cards and all 52 event cards. The datacards record your vehicles' stats while you move them across the table. That lets you refight the Eastern Front, from the costly months of 1941 to the advance on Berlin. With the German card set, your opponent has their own cards too.
