Background & context

Tank actions in the Second World War were rarely the great armoured wedges of the newsreels. Mostly they involved a handful of vehicles hunting one another among hedgerows, ruins and the edges of woods, and the first clean hit settled the matter. Achtung Panzer! takes up exactly this scale and works with hit locations, lines of sight and cover rather than with masses. The emphasis accordingly lies on the last two years of the war, by which time armour and guns had driven each other steadily upwards.

On the tabletop

With the Achtung Panzer! rulebook you lead a platoon of tanks, armoured cars or assault guns in close-range engagements. You build the platoon, recruit the crews, choose the ammunition and play one of the six missions. The stats for British, German, Soviet and American tanks of 1944 and 1945 are included. In the campaign, crews gain experience after every battle, and tank aces bring famous or self-made commanders into the game.
