    The A34 Comet was a further development of the successful Cromwell line and was intended to give British units more striking power against heavy German tanks. It reached the front in late 1944 and remained in service even after World War II. Its low silhouette, strong armour, and 77mm high-velocity gun made it one of the most capable British tanks of the war's end.
