Product details

Background & context

The A34 Comet came about as a logical further development of the Cromwell. Its 77mm high-velocity gun was a shortened derivative of the 17-pounder and so at last fitted into a turret of normal size. It reached the front from late 1944, too late for the great tank battles but early enough to prove itself. In Korea it was still in service years later, and it is regarded as the final word in British tank development of the Second World War.

On the tabletop

Bolt Action rates the A34 Comet as a medium tank whose 77 mm high-velocity gun counts as a super-heavy anti-tank gun. Developed from the Cromwell to take on Panthers and Tigers directly, it reached the front from late 1944 and later served in Korea. In a British armoured platoon of the final months of the war it gives you punch against heavy tanks, combined with a low silhouette and thick armour. An Achtung Panzer! datacard and tokens are included as well as a stat card and order die.
