Background & context

Vickers-Armstrong baute den A13 mitten in der Sparzeit der dreißiger Jahre, entsprechend viele Kompromisse stecken in ihm. Das Christie-Laufwerk kam über einen Umweg aus den Vereinigten Staaten nach England und machte den Wagen zum schnellsten Panzer der britischen Kavallerie. Gebaut wurde nur eine kleine Serie, die 1940 in Frankreich, danach in Griechenland und in der Wüste verschlissen wurde. Die CS-Ausführung tauschte die Zweipfünder gegen eine Haubitze und verschoss vor allem Nebel.

On the tabletop

The A13 Cruiser Mk III was the first British cruiser tank with Christie suspension and therefore very fast, but its armour stayed thin at 15 mm. The kit gives you the choice of early or late production and the CS version with a howitzer instead of the 2-pounder. In Bolt Action you use it for flanking thrusts in early British lists and avoid head-on fights. France in 1940, Greece and the first desert battles in North Africa suit it.
