    Hintergrund & Einordnung

    The A12 Matilda II was used in the 1940 Battle of France and presented significant problems for German anti-tank weapons like 37mm and 50mm guns. The counterattack at Arras particularly highlighted its strong armor. In North Africa, the Matilda II became closely associated with the heavy fighting against the Afrika Korps before German 88mm guns exposed its limitations. As it became increasingly obsolete against later German vehicles, many Matildas were transferred to the Far East, where Japanese tanks were considerably lighter. Warlord Games calls it the only British tank that remained in active service throughout the entire war.
