    Background & context

    Der A11 war ein Sparprodukt: 1936 durfte er kaum mehr kosten als ein Lastwagen, also bekam er einen Ford-Motor, einen Zweimann-Aufbau und ein einziges Vickers-MG. Was er hatte, war Panzerung bis 60 Millimeter, gegen die die deutsche 3,7-cm-Pak bei Arras im Mai 1940 nichts ausrichtete. Aufhalten ließ sich der Gegenangriff trotzdem, weil die Matilda I zu langsam war und keine Waffe gegen Panzer besaß. Alle verbliebenen Wagen blieben in Frankreich zurück.

    On the tabletop

    The Matilda I was a cheap infantry tank of 1936: two crew, a single Vickers machine gun, but armour up to 60 mm thick that the German 3.7 cm anti-tank gun bounced off at Arras in May 1940. In Bolt Action you send it ahead of your infantry as a bulletproof escort, drawing fire and raking positions with its machine gun. It has no weapon against tanks and it is slow. British lists for France in 1940 suit it.
