Product details

Background & context

Between 1941 and 1943 the front in North Africa swung back and forth along more than a thousand kilometres of coast road: whoever advanced moved away from his ports and sooner or later ground to a halt without fuel, whereupon the enemy struck back. The 8th Army was a Commonwealth force of British, Australians, New Zealanders, Indians and South Africans, and facing it were Rommel's Afrika Korps and Italian divisions. Because there was hardly any cover and hardly any civilian population, reconnaissance was decisive, and armoured cars such as the Humber and Sd.Kfz. 222 ranged far ahead as the eyes of the formations.

On the tabletop

There is not much cover: the only terrain on the double-sided mat is the ruined North African house in MDF. Twelve men of the British 8th Army meet twelve from the Afrika Korps, and the two armoured cars make the difference. You build the Humber as a MkII or MkIV and the German vehicle as an Sd.Kfz. 222 or 223, and both drive ahead to find the enemy before your own infantry shows itself. Order dice, dice bag, markers and templates are included, and the rules are in the German-language rulebook of the third edition. Later you can add Italians or contingents from Australia, New Zealand and India.
