Product details

Background & context

On 17 September 1944 a British parachute battalion under Lieutenant Colonel John Frost reached the north end of the Rhine bridge at Arnhem. His men occupied the houses around the ramp and held them for several days against German tanks and infantry. With the buildings set on fire and ammunition running out, the defenders had to give up on 21 September. The bridge remained in German hands.

On the tabletop

Stand several of these houses gable to gable and a closed street front divides your table. From the upper windows your riflemen command the street, while the enemy can only get in through doors and windows. Next to its ruined counterpart from the same range you show how far the war has already hit a town. The house suits fighting in Arnhem and other Dutch towns in 1944.
