Product details

Background & context

Brick terraced houses shaped the industrial towns of England as well as parts of northern France, Belgium and the Rhineland. During the Blitz of 1940 and 1941 German bombs destroyed whole rows of houses in London, Coventry and Liverpool. A few years later artillery and air raids hit towns on the Lower Rhine such as Wesel and Kleve, where similar rows were left standing only as bare walls.

On the tabletop

Slot the ruined house into a row of intact houses and the street shows the marks of an air raid. On the open floors your riflemen take cover behind wall edges but are less protected from above. As the ruin is narrow, it fits into any gap between larger buildings. For battles on the Western Front in 1944 and 1945 it forms a row of houses together with the intact terrace house.
