The German M42 troop bicycle was the most widely used bicycle by the Wehrmacht and enabled infantrymen to move quickly and silently. This set includes two bikes with riders in early or mid-war uniform, equipped with carrying straps and weapons - ideal as an atmospheric addition for reconnaissance or courier units.

Hintergrund & Einordnung

The M42 military bicycle was the standard bicycle of the German Wehrmacht and was used in large numbers on all fronts. It was the simplified version of the M40 model, optimized for mass production, with a reinforced frame and mounts for carbines, ammunition, and personal equipment. It enabled infantrymen, couriers, and reconnaissance personnel to move quickly and silently over medium distances without fuel consumption - a decisive advantage in times of increasing fuel shortages from 1942/43 onwards. Especially in the early war years, bicycle units (bicycle squadrons, bicycle battalions) played an important role in advances and supply. Military bicycles were also ubiquitous in Italy, on the Eastern Front, and for security tasks in occupied territories - Volkssturm and Hitler Youth units increasingly relied on them in 1944/45.

The M42 military bicycle in Bolt Action is suitable as a transport option for reconnaissance or courier units and gives the army an authentic historical look. The two models are excellent for use on the gaming table as objectives, terrain features, or as part of a reconnaissance squad.
