Product details

Background & context

Timoshenko bore the burden of the first months of the war in 1941, when the Western Front collapsed, and afterwards had to content himself with less prominent commands. Zhukov, by contrast, rose to become the central figure in the Soviet conduct of the war: Moscow, Stalingrad, Kursk and finally the Berlin operation all passed across his desk. Both were Marshals of the Soviet Union and both survived Stalin's mistrust, yet their careers show how differently the war treated its commanders.

On the tabletop

Zhukov and Timoshenko are two Marshals of the Soviet Union that you place as senior command behind your Red Army. On the table they mark a command post or headquarters that has to be protected or taken as an objective. Timoshenko belongs in scenarios from the first months of the war in 1941, Zhukov in Moscow, Stalingrad, Kursk or the drive on Berlin. Seven parts and two 25 mm round bases make a small command pair in 28 mm scale.
