Background & context

After El Alamein, Montgomery won back the initiative in North Africa and led the 21st Army Group all the way into northern Germany. He was no easy man to deal with, but one who planned his battles down to the last detail. Percy Hobart long stood in the shadows, until his 79th Armoured Division supplied the converted specialist tanks for D-Day. Flail tanks, bridgelayers and swimming Shermans cleared the beaches on 6 June and turned the one-time outsider into the man behind the Funnies.

On the tabletop

Montgomery and Percy Hobart form a British command post for actions from North Africa to North West Europe. Montgomery leads a force after El Alamein or in 1944 and 1945, while Hobart suits scenarios around D-Day and the specialised tanks of his 79th Armoured Division. You build Hobart in one of two poses, and both stand on 25 mm lipped bases. On the table they serve as a headquarters or as an objective.
