Product details

Background & context

George S. Patton took over the US 3rd Army in August 1944 and drove it right across France in a few weeks, before relieving the encircled garrison of Bastogne in December. His appearance was a statement in itself: polished helmet, riding breeches, ivory-handled revolver, along with remarks that reliably made it into the newspapers. Willie, a bull terrier, came to him in England in 1944 and hardly left his side afterwards. The best-known photograph of the dog was taken after Patton's death, in front of his master's empty luggage.

On the tabletop

Patton with his bull terrier Willie leads your American force in games set in 1944, when he drove across France with the Third Army and relieved Bastogne. You place him behind the front as a commander, or make him an objective that has to be held or reached. In a diorama he shows the general on a visit to the front. The figure builds quickly from seven parts and stands on a 25 mm lipped base.
