Hintergrund & Einordnung

The Feldgendarmerie was the military police of the Wehrmacht and was recognizable by its characteristic gorget shield (breastplate with "Feldgendarmerie" lettering), which earned them the nickname "Kettenhunde" (chained dogs). Their duties included traffic control, monitoring troop movements, returning stragglers, guarding prisoners of war, and enforcing military order in field operations. In the last months of the war, the Feldgendarmerie increasingly received the dubious task of court-martialing alleged deserters. On motorized two-wheelers - typically BMW R75 or Zündapp KS750 with sidecar - they were particularly mobile and could control wide areas. The Kradmantel was a special weatherproof overcoat that protected motorcyclists from wind and rain and was part of the typical appearance of motorized Wehrmacht units.

Einsatz im Spiel

This set provides the appropriate crew for the German R75 motorcycle with sidecar (item numbers 280051 and 280052) and cannot be used independently without these vehicles. With the Feldgendarmerie riders, motorized military police units can be represented on the tabletop as reconnaissance or security elements. They are particularly suitable for historical scenarios that focus on troop movements, security tasks, or traffic control.
