    Product details

    Background & context

The Swedish Bofors 40 mm was the most successful light anti-aircraft gun of the war, so good that both sides built it under licence. The British introduced it in 1937 as the QF 40 mm Mk I, and the Mk III followed as a simplified production variant. Four rounds per clip, around two rounds per second: that was enough against low-flying aircraft and, with the barrel depressed, against bunkers and lorries too. In North-West Europe it therefore ended up in the ground role more and more often.

    On the tabletop

The 40 mm Bofors protects your British force against low-flying aircraft. With the barrel lowered it also fires on lorries and bunkers, which is why it was used more and more in ground combat in North West Europe. You build it as a Mk I or Mk III, folded for transport or with the outriggers swung out in firing position. Platform and barrel remain movable, so you can change the direction even after assembly. Four British gunners, a spare barrel and extra ammunition are included.
