    Product details

    Background & context

British batteries needed pulling power, and the Morris Commercial C8 supplied it. From the autumn of 1939 it went out to the field regiments, towing the 25-pounder complete with limber and later the 17-pounder anti-tank gun as well. The boxy all-steel cab with its curved roof earned it the nickname Quad. More than 10,000 were built by 1945, and in North Africa, Italy and Normandy it was part of the everyday scene behind the front.

    On the tabletop

The Morris Quad is the artillery tractor of British and Commonwealth batteries, towing the 25-pounder or the 17-pounder anti-tank gun into position. Besides the gun it carries the detachment and a supply of ammunition, so on the table it belongs right alongside your battery. As it is unarmoured, it stays behind cover once the gun is unlimbered. You build a Mk II or Mk III with the roof hatch and doors open or closed, and a driver in Commonwealth uniform is included.
