    Hintergrund & Einordnung

    The Tilly was a British light utility vehicle that was derived from civilian car designs for military purposes during World War II. The British Army needed vehicles for liaison, transport, casualty evacuation, and general supply, especially at company and battalion levels. The Light Utility Cars usually had a simple flatbed with a canvas cover and were officially classified as Car, Light Utility 4 x 2. Austin produced approximately 29,000 of these vehicles by the end of the war.
