    Background & context

    From August 1941 Bedford also built the QL series as a troop carrier. The QLT was given a tall box body sloping down towards the rear, which earned it the nickname Drooper among its drivers, and swallowed around thirty men with their kit. A good 3,300 were built. They moved British and Commonwealth infantry behind the front, served as ambulance and workshop vehicles, and after the Normandy landings carted reliefs up to the front.

    On the tabletop

    As a troop carrier, the Bedford QLT moves British and Commonwealth infantry up to their start line from 1941 onward. Its long box body holds around thirty men with their kit, so on the table it carries a whole infantry unit. Since it is unarmoured, you unload the men in cover before enemy fire reaches the road. The gun mount with MG is optional, you choose the cab roof and tarpaulin during assembly, and a driver is included.
