    A British three-tonner with four-wheel drive and probably the best-known driver's cab in the Empire. The kit comes with a ready-moulded cab, two roof variants, a tarpaulin if you want it and a driver at the wheel.

    Background & context

    When the War Office called for a three-tonner with cross-country ability, Bedford in Luton had a prototype finished within a few months; it was ready in February 1940. From March 1941 the QL series was in full production, Bedford's first range designed for the military from the outset. Over 52,000 were built by 1945. The QLD version with its open load bed was the most common of them and carried everything a division needed in North Africa, Italy, North-West Europe and Burma.

    On the tabletop

    The Bedford QLD is the four-wheel-drive British three-tonner with an open cargo bed, driven by Commonwealth troops from 1941 to the end of the war. On the table it represents supply: ammunition, rations and materiel on their way to the front, often as a convoy the enemy wants to intercept. The kit includes a driver, two roof options for the cab and a tarpaulin that you fit or leave off. You can use it from North Africa and Italy to North-West Europe and Burma.
