    Product details

    Background & context

From 1942 the 2-pounder gun could no longer do anything against newer armour. The Marks IX and X were therefore given the 6-pounder and the Mk XI finally a 75 mm gun, which left room for only two men in the cramped turret. A large share of these late vehicles came off the line in Canadian factories and went almost entirely to the Soviet Union, where Valentines were still in action in Manchuria as late as August 1945. In British hands they had by then long been serving as training and towing vehicles.

    On the tabletop

Because the 2-pounder was no longer enough from 1942, the Mk IX and X carry the stronger 6-pounder and the Mk XI even a 75 mm gun. That left room for only two men in the cramped turret. A large share of these late Valentines went to the Red Army, which used them as late as Manchuria in August 1945, so it fits your Soviet force above all. With the Commonwealth crew you can add it to British units, and mudguards and hatches are optional.
