    Product details

    Background & context

The A34 Comet was Britain's answer to its own realisation that the Cromwell was fast but under-gunned. In place of the 75 mm gun it received the 77 mm HV, which fired the 17-pounder's projectile and fitted into a turret that did not make the vehicle top-heavy. In spring 1945 it crossed the Rhine with the 11th Armoured Division. Afterwards it stayed in British service for years, and in South Africa Comets were still on strength in the eighties.

    On the tabletop

The Comet is the British cruiser tank of the last months of the war, for actions during the advance into Germany in 1945. Its 77 mm gun makes it dangerous even to Panthers and Tigers at medium range, so in your force it takes on the fight against heavy German tanks. As Type A you build it for the Second World War, as Type B for the post-war years. The mantlet is plain or fitted with a canvas cover, and a crew is included.
