Product details

Background & context

The Second World War is regarded as a war of materiel, yet for long stretches it was still fought with horses. German infantry divisions moved their guns, field kitchens and ammunition forward mostly by horse team, and on the Eastern Front the light panje wagon often got further than any lorry. The Red Army and the partisans relied on carts too, because they needed neither fuel nor spare parts. Motor columns usually took over only well behind the divisional boundary.

On the tabletop

The horse-drawn wagon shows the animal-drawn supply with which German infantry divisions, as well as the Red Army and partisans, moved much of their materiel. On the table it serves as a supply cart, as the objective of an ambush scenario or as an obstacle in a village street. You build it as a single or twin horse wagon and add reins and traces following the included instructions. Civilians and stowage are available separately in blister packs.
