    With 3,311 built, the BA-10 was the most-produced heavy armoured car of the Red Army. Rubicon renders it in 50 parts with a one-piece chassis, open or closed turret hatches and auxiliary tracks for the rear axles.

    Background & context

    The BA-10 appeared in 1938 as a further development of the BA-3 and BA-6 and remained in production until 1941. New features were the shortened GAZ-AAA chassis and better-shaped armour; alongside it ran the BA-10M radio version and the rail-capable BA-10ZhD. The vehicle had its baptism of fire in 1939 against the Japanese Kwantung Army at Khalkhin Gol. After the winter of 1941/42 it became rare at the front, but it still turned up near Leningrad in 1943 and in Prague in May 1945.

    On the tabletop

    The BA-10 is the Red Army's heavy armoured car for actions from 1939 to the winter of 1941/42. It drives ahead of your Soviet force as a scout, a job later taken over by light tanks. Fitting the included auxiliary tracks to the rear wheels turns it into a half-track, which you can build for scenarios in snow or on soft ground. The turret hatches can be shown open or closed, and the chassis is cast in one piece.
