The 3.7 cm Flak 43 comes here complete with the SdAh 58 trailer and a three-man crew. You build it in travelling order on the trailer or unlimbered in firing position, with the barrel either level or raised to 45 degrees.

Background & context

From 1943 the 3.7 cm Flak 43 replaced the older Flak 36 and 37: the same calibre, but with a much simplified breech and a considerably higher rate of fire. The gun was moved on the single-axle Sonderanhänger 58, from which it was taken down to fire. Its targets were fighter-bombers and ground-attack aircraft at low level, and towards the end of the war more and more often armoured cars and infantry on the ground as well. In the last years of the war it stood on every front and on self-propelled mounts such as the Möbelwagen.

On the tabletop

From 1943 the 3.7 cm Flak 43 covers your German force against fighter-bombers and ground-attack aircraft at low altitude. With the barrel raised to 45 degrees you show it in its intended role, with a level barrel as a weapon against armoured cars and infantry, a use that became more common towards the end of the war. On the SdAh 58 trailer it is ready for the march, or unlimbered in firing position. A crew of three is included.
