    Half motorcycle, half tracked vehicle: the Kettenkrad towed everything a lorry could no longer manage. The kit includes it with the if.8 infantry cart, three figures and a removable Goliath that you use as a game piece in its own right.

    Background & context

    The SdKfz 2 was developed as a light tractor for airborne troops, small enough for the hold of a Ju 52. In the field it was then taken on mainly by reconnaissance troops and infantry: from 1941 it laid signal cable on the Eastern Front, hauled loads and got through mud in which wheeled vehicles had long since come to a halt. By the time production ended in 1944 around 8,345 had been built, used from North Africa to Italy. The Goliath included was a remote-controlled demolition carrier with a charge of 60 to 100 kilograms.

    On the tabletop

    The SdKfz 2 Kettenkrad pulls the if.8 infantry cart through mud and rough ground, lays telephone cable and brings loads to your German infantry, whether on the Eastern Front, in North Africa or with mountain troops. A driver and two passengers ride on it. The included Goliath with its trailer can be detached and used as a separate element: a remote-controlled demolition charge against tanks, buildings, bridges or dense infantry. You build the cart with or without its canvas cover.
