    Product details

    Background & context

The T-26 was a child of licence production: the Soviet Union bought the British Vickers 6-Ton and built more than 11,000 copies of it. The hull gave rise to 53 offshoots, from flamethrowers and radio-controlled tanks to artillery tractors, 23 of which went into series production. The type gained combat experience in Spain, at Khalkhin Gol and in the Winter War. By 1941 it was hopelessly obsolete but stayed in service, and its last action came in Manchuria in August 1945.

    On the tabletop

The T-26 was the Red Army light infantry tank between the wars and in 1941 still its most numerous tank. You pick one of ten variants built between 1931 and 1939, three of them flamethrower tanks for use against positions and bunkers. It saw action in Spain, at Khalkhin Gol, in the Winter War and from 1941 against the Wehrmacht. It cannot take much from newer anti-tank weapons, so you advance it together with infantry. Turret hatches, DT machine gun and air intake cover are optional.
