    Product details

    Background & context

The 7.5cm PaK 40 was the answer to the shock of summer 1941: against the T-34 and KV the Wehrmacht needed a gun that could penetrate at combat range. From 1942 it entered service in large numbers and remained the most important German anti-tank gun until the end of the war; the same barrel went into the Marder, the Hetzer and countless captured chassis. Its low silhouette was ideal for ambushes, but at around one and a half tonnes it could hardly be shifted by hand, and once in position it stayed there.

    On the tabletop

From 1942 the 7.5 cm PaK 40 is the most important anti-tank gun of German forces, and it stays that way until the end of the war. It was built to penetrate the T-34 and KV at normal combat ranges. Its low profile is easy to conceal, but the crew can hardly move it by hand. So plan its position to overlook a road or an open stretch of ground. Five crew, ammunition crates and the lower shield for firing or travelling position are in the box.
