    Background & context

The Soviet BM launchers fired their salvoes in seconds rather than minutes, putting several tonnes of explosives onto an area in a short space of time. Precision was not the point, shock effect was: German Landser called the launchers Stalin's organ. From 1943 the BM-13N version was mounted as standard on the Studebaker US6 supplied under Lend-Lease. The price for this was a huge plume of smoke and dust on firing, which gave the battery away immediately.

    On the tabletop

The BM-13N brings Soviet rocket artillery on a Studebaker chassis to your games from 1943 onward. Its strength is the rapid salvo that covers a whole area, not the aimed shot at a single target. Because smoke and dust give away its position when it fires, you are best off moving the launcher after each salvo. The launch rails can still be turned and raised, and a driver figure is included. Left without the launcher, the kit makes an ordinary supply truck.
